so [livejournal.com profile] circe_tigana asks for cropping help, and who was I to refuse a challenge?

large image quilt under here...20 crops total )

What I found interesting as I was doing this was that at certain points Orlando Bloom slightly resembled Bono (::pokes at circe::) which might explain the attraction of this photo set...

The top row mostly focuses on the eyes, the second on the ear, the third on the jawline.

The 'eyes' row overflowed into the 'ear' row, but highlights how we, as humans, are basically hard-wired to focus attention on eyes...also, notice the effect of 'space' and the 'up-down' movement of the pics up until the last one, which is affected by the curve of the hair.

The 'ear' row is mostly a study on how the curve of the ear is set against the curl of hair, and the last three you can see how the effect works with the somewhat straighter curve of the jawline and the round of the cheekbone (and notice how the focus shifts towards the eyes...).

The 'jaw' row is gratuitous fun for me, (jaw fetish, heh), and the thing to notice here is how the nearly perpendicular line of the throat works with the horizontal line of the jaw. (look at the slightly different effect of the first two pics, the second one has the 'intersection' more centered), Points of interest being the shift of the interesection of jaw and neck around in the 100x100 and the addition or disappearance of the nose, and then the eye. Also, note the difference that the diagonal lines of hair makes crops...

Anyhoo, take any of the crops that you want, no credit necessary because they're just an image studies and resizing.

Oh, and watch "Frida", it's really really good. Lovely stuff, gut-wrenching and hilarious in turns, awful and gorgeous and painful.

'cause, do you know the old versions of the Little Mermaid? Where she was granted the most graceful legs but that every movement was like stepping on broken glass, and she danced anyway?

Like that, like that.
