hee! part of the reason I went to the panel was to hear reactions to Gravity, and I understand reactions to it because of the musical choice.

I've added the link to your site to the vid, thank you!, and about the contextual I think I might know why for that, 'cause I can't hear lyrics. I don't know if it was because English wasn't my first language (although it's currently the language I know best) or because of my musical training, but I tend to hear the 'song' of words faster than their meaning.

For the most part I'm lyric deaf unless I'm really concentrating and if I'm really tired people talking at me sorta blend together and become musical and I don't understand English at all.

I think the three shows together actually adds to the main theme (your main point) of the vid which I recieved as this sort of inexorable devastating duty that all three women have to shoulder. What made it difficult for me, being lyric-deaf, was that the images by themselves held no resonance for me because I don't remember the source very well for Nikita and don't really know the source to Buffy or X-Files.

So for a viewer with contextual knowledge of the source, it would be "resonant image + more resonant image + OH MY OW image => theme". But I had difficulty connecting the meaning behind the images together because of my lack of knowledge of the three source's visual syntax...I didn't know the symbols that the visuals were speaking in and that's what I mean by context.

But for instance, [livejournal.com profile] lierdumoa knew Buffy's context and from there drew the context for the other two...this vid made the vidparty I'd attended all tear-eyed. =)

(And thank you! I'm so glad you like that vid, it's actually my favorite of my three that premiered at VVC...)
