Yes, absolutely, I do understand what you're saying. It's much easier to take in a series of quick, short images if the images are *simple* and aesthetically harmonious with one another. Sometimes you can wind up with really unfortunate juxtapositions when you are using multiple effects or quickly cutting between unrelated scenes. Things get blobby, indistinct, or unpleasantly colored.
