I wonder if partially this is why Buffy fandom was so popular vidding-wise, 'cause their color palette was dark and naturally more palatable to more people.

FWIW, I hate the color palette of Buffy before S4. *g* It has a lot to do with why I took so long to get into it. The color palette of Firefly, however, makes me really happy - while I know for others it's a turnoff. ([livejournal.com profile] lapillus is one such)
