or for someone who critiques the vid for being too long. or having too many clips. or too many colors. because no matter what you like (color/bw, short/long...there will always be a vid that can overcome your inherent preferences. And I want people to try to look past the surface - at least try, even if they say: nope, does nothing for me.

I think we should add: Connecting With The Vid as a discussion point. As fans, we love our shows. We do not do casual drive by viewing. We explore (to paraphrase Luara), we dig into the meat of the show, we write stories and flesh out the universe.

Why should vids be treated differently? Why shouldn't we expect the same from our audiences? I realize "I want to read/watch what I want" tendency holds true no matter the fannish medium (ex PWP readers would not like angsty novels - and that should be fine). But how many fans out there are willing to give a story a try - that may not be willing to give a vid a try?

When I sit with some audience members I feel like I am in the Land of Short Attention Span People. "Click, click, click" goes their minds during a vid show - in 10 seconds they're changing the channel. And complaining about it later. "I went to this con, you know, and there was this vid show, and I swear there was nothing on..... 57 vids and nothing on......"
