Like, remember my version of the Gattaca vid? And how I said it felt effecty even though it didn't have that many. I realized what I meant my that. It's that you can so obviously tell it's been *edited,* you know? The cutting is not subtle at all. It's intended to jar the viewer.
I think the vast majority of live action effects are designed to be subtle. You're not supposed to see them -- you're supposed to feel them. Everything I did in my TF&TF vid, though it seemed really obvious to me, was actually designed to make the vid flow. I think anything that's put in to tie the vid together rather than break it apart is going to be harder to notice for someone who's not looking for it.
