In rereading what I wrote, I can hardly blame you. What I meant was she seemed to be more concerned about audience reaction to a vid from a fandom they're unfamiliar with, and my point was audience reaction to vids by the EBV's and the inherent expectations that come with them. Ugh, I'm sorry, does that make more sense?
Did you in fact mean that you had not seen anyone making the same point at you? I didn't see anyone in this post making the exact same point as anyone else, so I'm not sure why the fact that no one else was making your exact point would make you feel underrepresented.
I was trying to justify why I felt as strongly as I did. One impetus was a friend's LJ where she stated she was scared off by this discussion because she felt like a layman who couldn't hold her own. And that reminded me of other friends I have who don't watch particular vids by particular vidders because of the whole elitist bitch pride thing. So no, I shouldn't have expected anyone to make the exact point that I did because in truth, I wasn't coming from remotely the same place. My bad.
