my point was audience reaction to vids by the EBV's and the inherent expectations that come with them.
Are you seriously saying that audiences are going to react differently to vids based on whether or not the maker has a particular clearly-humorous LJ icon?
And that reminded me of other friends I have who don't watch particular vids by particular vidders because of the whole elitist bitch pride thing.
You are seriously saying that, apparently. Your friends are boycotting particular vidders because they don't like a funny icon ?

I'm a clueless vidding newbie. I haven't posted in this discussion before, because right now I feel I don't have the vidding experience to add anything. My total achievement to date is a 1-minute practice vid which I've shown to approximately 3 people, so I really don't have anything to contribute about how I do or don't connect with different audiences!
Does this mean I am being willfully "excluded"?
Nope, it means I get to read avidly and benefit from the thoughts of people who've got a helluva lot more experience than I do.
And whenever I have posted in vidding discussion threads, asked questions, or sought out information and advice, I've received nothing but kindness, welcome and assistance from the oh-so-scary people with the EBV icons.

If it were not for things like http://www.livejournal.com/users/permetaform/150126.html, I wouldn't even be throwing clips at a timeline.
