1) the Region 1 boxset is out. The DVD extras make me drool.
I *can* wait until x-mas, can't I? ::pulls face and sits on hands:: wah.
2) ::gigglesnorts:: Atlantean universal translator, and whatnot.
The comments are hilarious: "Because - there could be a scene in which Ronon asks Teyla why it is that he often understands the *words* that Sheppard is saying and yet does not understand what he *means*. And Teyla says, very seriously, that the earth humans have a god called The Simpsons back at home, and they like to quote his scriptures." (

3) Question: is it common in your experience for non-fandom people to refer to Stargate: Atlantis as SGA? My roommate and her boyfriends mention that everyone else they know call it "Stargate Atlantis" or "Atlantis", never "SGA". I've been poking around some on my end and it seems likely too, but maybe that's just where I live...
(am very curious because in an interview Hewlett mentioned that he, and maybe others? I'm not sure, has started calling the show SGA. I'm betting that it's been transmitted from fandom via Nykls, who, y'know, has been proven tostalk keep an eye on the LJ comms. god I love this fandom)
On a non-fannish note, apparently the 2004 election *was* stolen. Not really a surprise, but apparently they have third-party confirmation now. ::facepalm::

2) Ahahhaa. Shep is totally a Simpsons nut. And you have my eternal love for linking that brilliant, brilliant ow-my-sides-hurt post.
3) No idea. My friends are all so used to my fandom-generated acronym-speak that they sort of pick it up from me anyway. (And it never stops being funny when the true extent of my constant nattering is proved by a non-fandom friend hearing me say, "Squee! I just read this great SGA AU and I am totally ODing on the OTP!" and understanding me. Hee.)

Oh. My. God. Really?
...that is so cool.
My love for the actors just went up several notches. I mean, I knew Hewlett totally rocked, geeky boy that he is, but that's just... so cool. Heh.

Re: Completely off-topic
oh hey, so is it just that you'd assign each letter of your name it's number in the alphabet and add together?
(if so, what does 1 mean? ::is very curious::)

1) Christmas exists to taunt us for 255 days of the year.
2) Hee! I just keep imagining that scene with Ronon with this little lightbulb over his head and Teyla just doing the you-silly-children benevolent mommy smile...
3) =D but like, does anyone who hasn't already been exposed at length to fandom use it regularly themselves? ::curious::

Re: Completely off-topic
Apparently bithdays are actually more important, but I'd already made up a middle name and I don't think he has a canon birthday.

Apparently someone made a manip or something and posted it on a LJ comm. Within *hours* it was on his official site, with proper credit. =D
The comm's mod's response was something like, "In light of this: people, please remember to spell-check your porn..."

It's like that fan who went up to O'Neil's character with the Jack/Daniel back-to-back picture and he just gives her a *look* and then signs right over his character's crotch. XD

I wish I could see Rodney's reaction to numerology and arithmancy. The thousand dancing hamsters would probably pale in comparison.

Okay, that's never going to happen and RDA and MS, though spiffy people wouldn't be the same...
It's late. I need to sleep. The babbling is beginning.

Re: Completely off-topic
Oh hey, have you read that Star Trek crossover? Where Rodney went into fits 'cause he had to keep two different laws of physics in his head?? XD
Re: Completely off-topic
And that was an alternate universe- he'd probably be even worse when John takes the laws he knows and says they're more like guidelines, really.

But you know, he still refers to SG1 as "Stargate."

1) Does your Christmas run for 101 days? Cos, dude, if so I'm coming to your house. [/teasing]
2. Ronon is the best straightman ever.
3. I did some research on this important question last night, and can report that in Australia, among the die-hard techhead fans at least, it is "Atlantis". SG-1 is SG-1 if your introduction to Gateverse was the original movie, but if SG-1 was your starting point, then you refer to it as "Stargate". I hope this helps. =D

2. ::nods:: EVER.
3. oooo! yes, yes it does. XD Dude, they *so* know of fandom, and that's not even counting Nykl and his keeping an eye on the LJ comms....
