This is all darkness and light and a world gone pearshaped. It is painful beautiful in it's bits of brightness and moments of laughter and other times it just creeps up on you, catches you offguard, grabs your stomach and *twists*.
Even if you are only passing familiar with BtVS, PLEASE take a look at this. Spike is magnificently crafted, harsh and flawed and a little too human, and Xander is painfully there and not. But this is Spike's story, all the way up to when you slam up against the author's invisible wall of an ending.
And Spike has not been welcomed through.
