It's like my horrible, bastard fandom that I hide in the closet because sometimes it's really fun, but sometimes it has lines like: "Son Goku looked down awkwardly as he walked towards his seat. *shares in the Saiyuki love* I read the first four volumes last year in scanslation form, and am now slowly ammassing the manga in its official, puplished and translated format. The whole thing has a nice, gritty feel to it, and Goijyo is great ^_^. Plus, the art style is interesting.

I haven't been able to find much fanfic for it, though, outside of plnunn's fics (I was actually just complaining about this on the massive fanfic_wank thread). I'm sure there's stuff on ff.net, but I'm afraid of ff.net. Can you give me some non-soul-destroying recs?

heh, if it makes any sense, Yami's more eyecandy to me (inciting vidder wishes) while I'm more captivated by Saiyuki's character interactions (the art style I can appreciate in an aesthetic way, as in "ooo pretty", though not in "OMG ::HUMP::" kinda way)...

I really thought of Yami as pure eyecandy until I got into the fics and the manga and now I just can't get the boys out of my head. The Saiyuki boys are hotter in the manga than in the anime, though I'm not sure if you'll agree.

Do you like the Saiyuki manga, or the anime? Because I got volume one of the manga and was severely disappointed. The art was the only thing I liked and even that rated "normal" for me. I was still thinking about making a post about it but hadn't gotten around to it yet.

oh the anime's basically just the manga colored in. I really really didn't get into Saiyuki until about vol 5. And then it's partly because of the character interactions and partly through comparing it to the original Journey to the West story that it's based on.

i have no idea. i only watched the episodes on dvd that my friend brought over when i was sick. i recall lots of verbal slashing and crossovers with Star Wars. so it's probably better not to ask. ^_^;;
