This is...ridiculously good. Redonkulously good, even. I got to the end and was
1) supremely glad it was an ongoing series
2) saying "wowwwww" for a full 5 minutes.
The blurb on the site:
Everyone knows about the story of Shahrazad and her wonderful tales of the Arabian nights. [...] But what if Shahrazad was actually a boy desperate to save his sister's life? What kind of strange things would he do to make sure that he survives to tell the tale? This new twist on one of the greatest classical folk tales just might keep you awake for another One Thousand and One Nights.
It's really rich, really fantastic storytelling, love and sacrifice and a dash of war and a pinch of romance and a full heaping handful of fuckedupedness.
Some really fantastic imagery, some pretty nice pretty boys, and quite alot of twisty angst.
At points I was shouting "What is WRONG with you at the computer screen," until I read more and went, "Oh. Ohhhhh. Well, shit."
An allegory sitting in a metaphor cuddled next to a parallel and a simile. Wrapped up in a bard who loves his sultan.
It is awesome.
