huh.

o.0 so unbalanced...

[screencap via free download here]

I get into bouts where I get maudlin and thus contemplate the bellybutton. Occasionally this gets me to dig up my birth chart again to stare long and hard and try to figure out what rut I got into *this* time.

What's creepy about this chart is that even though people snort at 'astrology'; it basically nails everything I've ever managed to learn (bad and good) about myself and sheds light on actions I never before understood was there. If nothing else, it acts as a pictoral reminder of ruts that are too easy for me to fall into if I'm not careful. Piscean obsessive tendancies and bleed-through effect.

Any dabblers or pros in astrology out there willing to give a 2 cents? I'm not sure how my chart is reacting to the current alignment, thought I can pull that up for you too...

It's a little complicated because the info from astro.com disagrees a bit with the info in the graphic and link you've got above. Since it seems to be primarily the house placements that's off -- for instance, see how above your Sun and Mercury are in the 9th house, while the Moon, Venus and Mars are in the 10th? In your astro.com info, the Sun and Merc are in the 10th and the others are in the 11th -- that makes me think that one or the other chart calculation program didn't take into account Daylight Saving Time (a common problem because DST wasn't standardized in its current form in the U.S. 'til the 1980s, and it's hit or miss whether other international bodies observe it, so a chart program has to have a really detailed place/date/time-history reference built in to account for all of the variables). I've never found astro.com to be off wrt DST -- it got mine right even when astrology.com, another popular site with free chart calculation, was getting it wrong (astrology.com has fixed that error now, I think) -- but it's possible. You might wanna get your chart calculated at a few sites and compare.

House placement is not the most important part of interpretation, but it matters a good bit. The planets can be thought of as actors (each with a certain personality that's going to affect how it fills a part); the signs they're in are the roles they play (so if Mars is, say, a belligerent little Russell Crowe, it's gonna find it more comfortable to play the warrior Aries or the grand king Leo than a domestic, service-oriented Virgo or a diffused and spiritual Pisces); the houses are the scenes in which they make their primary appearances; the aspects between the planets/angles are the relationships they form with other actors/parts of the personality. Additionally, each house has a sort of natural affinity with a particular sign/planetary ruler -- in the "natural zodiac," Aries/Mars rules the first house, Taurus/Venus the second, Gemini/Mercury the third, and so on -- so each house can be easier or harder for a particular planet to act from. Mars working from the Leo/Sun house (5th -- the house of creativity, romance, children) will have more freedom to act as itself than Mars in the Virgo/Mercury house (6th -- health, daily work environment, service and attitude toward subordinates).

Blah blah blah, I ramble... Anyway, tell you what: I'm in the middle of a quick and annoyingly complicated move across the country right now so I don't have much time for chart-work, but if you're still in the mood for some astro-analysis in a couple of weeks, near the end of June, poke me again. Here or via e-mail (firesignwriter at yahoo dot com) is fine. I enjoy reading charts when time permits, so it's no bother. Just be forewarned that I'm definitely a dabbler -- been playing with this now for just a few years -- and nowhere near a pro.

In the meantime, if you decide astro.com has the calculation right for your chart, you might wanna play around with their astro click feature. Go to "free charts" on the main page, then scroll down to "interactive horoscopes" and start with "astro click portrait." You can learn a lot from that -- or at least learn which areas you wanna know more about.
