On Demons.

We went to a Chinese restaurant today. It was one of those that's subtly feng-shui compliant, with chubby buddha's for prosperity, with a shrine tucked in a corner and reflective surfaces against the front door, to help chase away malevolent energy.

There were American flags, sprinkled around the room. Their placement recalled those of talismans used to drive away demons.

My stomach made strange twists as I realized this. I think I was sad, possibly.
