What I learned from making 'Sunburned'

What I knew from the moment I heard this song.
1) Screaming clip at the climax of the song
2) lots of water images
3) lots of image 'runs'
4) the elements
5) Emperor pov.
6) Had to somehow focus on the culture war.
7) God, but this is gonna be obscure. ::headdesks::
Biggest initial mistakes about the vid
1) PICvideo Lossless might be a good preview codec for Premiere - IT ISN'T. It's slow like molassas at the north pole.
2) That I could finish in a week - ::wry grin:: well, I know better now. Also, I need more RAM. I really really do.
Best things I've learned through this vid
1) slowing down my cutting speed - self-explanatory, and am still working on this

2) practicing using avisynth - the most useful tool EVER. ::bounces::

3) the pretty is your friend. except when it isn't - sometimes it's hard to get meaning and content when things are too shiny. One must learn to live with this fact if one insists on having shiny things in vids.

4) subtlety is your friend. except when it isn't - see above. replace 'shiny' with 'subtle'.
Hardest Things About The Vid
1) PICvideo Lossless is the SLOWEST PREVIEW CODEC EVER. ***EVER***.
2) Getting the timing right on the lens flare when she screams was a pain in the buttock. Worth it tho.
3) Vidding that last really fast run of images. I'd briefly expanded to 6 tracks just to *organize* all the colors. Insanity. and also? Take into account #1...

Random Thoughts and Comments
Making this vid was SO. FREAKING. FUN. I was putting down a clip, and cheering and putting down a clip and cheering. Didn't hurt that I adored the song, and in fact I think this is the fastest vid I ever made. I think I finished the bulk of it in 5 days (over Winter Break) and then just sat on the thing picking at timing issues for 2 months. Made this on avisynth which is a GODSEND 'cause I couldn't have kept the quality so high otherwise. Also, it exists for the most part in only 3 video tracks; I think that's a record for me.

green--jealousy!! Jealousy--corporate--sneer!!!!!!!!!

::is. so. slow.::

I think it's because i never paid attention to the lyrics while watching, just the SOUND--that seeing the outline puts a LOT more in perspective for me.

just WATCH me loop it -again- and get my roomie to kill me, -again-. XD XD worth it for you and your vid, babe.
