SGA meta: Season 2's arc and Allies
There was discussion on this topic in another post, but the main thing I think people agreed on was that Season's 2's arc spun around the issue of trust.
Even more?
"Thou shalt *trust* despite overwheeeeeeeelming odds."
Almost every episode followed this pattern from Epiphany to Critical Mass to Coup D'Etat to Inferno. They met three societies who at first (and maybe fifth) glance thought that Atlanteans were Shady Motherfuckers, so that by the end of the season, the concept of Trust has been POUNDED into their heads throughout the whole season.
...and then you have Allies.
And Atlanteans being STUPID, which is kinda like, as
liviapenn pointed out, is frequently like saying "John wears black". And not only that, but they'd assumed that the Wraith was *stupider* than they are, over and over and over again and wow but that's unbelieeeeevable hubris and cockyness and arrogance. Which, perhaps is Weir, John, and Rodney in a nutshell.
oh god, I *love* my show! I swear I've watch the second half of Season 2 basically screaming at the screen in all sorts of delight. Michael came completely as a surprise to me, I'd avoided trailers and I blanked out my speculations in my head, and wow. Wow. They visually framed the SGA crew as villains. They actually went full out with the villains thing. ::POINTS AT ICON:: Delighted. Beyond. Words.
