So I caved and got a Johari meme thing too. 'Cause really, kinda *neat*. =D

(edit: alternately, the Nohari meme, which lists one's percieved faults)

Also, I just watched Rent for the first time (big screen tho, school auditorium). Bawled uncontrollably, 'cause dude, it totally hit my gutpunch themes of carpe diem and transience and living deaths and dying lives.

Heard from my roommate that it was pretty damn faithful to the play itself which is good, but just...it totally makes sense as a movie. 'Cause it's a movie about making a movie about lives too big to just be "real" and it had almost a Moulin Rouge feel except with less brocade and velvet.

And! Chinese New Years tomorrow! Who's going to the New Years parade in SF?

Er?

Oooh, that makes sense.

And on Rent and carpe diem and transience and living deaths and dying lives? Yes. Totally. Thank you for getting it. Really. I struggled with that while others of my party weren't quite there to the point of laughing (and more) at the end...

As for-er. Tom Riddle? Not as cast in the films? But now that I think about it, he could pass as him. He's my current Pretty, Sulky Boy. =)

Yeah, I have weird syntax when I'm sick. =( People were laughing at the end. It made my face burn.

He'sa Tom Sturridge. =D Was in Being Julia and had about a minute's worth of screentime in the recent Vanity Fair.

Hope you're enjoying the festivities!

I'm so glad you liked RENT, I have to wait until March to pick up my DVD from Amazon and then APRIL until it gets released in theatres... I watched most of the musical scenes on youtube though and I CRIED MY EYES OUT WITH HEARTWRENCHING SOBS at Collin's reprise of "I'll Cover You". I love that man, the character and the actor.
I love that play so much, it's just the characterisation and the songs and ohhh...

I read this interview with Jesse and it made me feel so much more for Collins.. you can really see that in the funeral scenes where he's singing to the picture and he looks back to his friends for support and they all rise up giving him backing vocals *whimpers*

P.F: What is your take on Tom Collins??

J.L.M: He is the 1 person in the cast who doesn’t have any lofty artistic ambitions; he literally wants to keep his family around him and be a humble teacher. But he is probably the only one that doesn’t have any real creative ambitions like striving to be the best artist or the best film maker he just wants to keep his family around him, I mean you move to New York and you basically adopt the family that you want and he found his family and he wanted to make sure he didn’t lose them, whether it be to a disease or what have you. The first time you see him, he has never been in love before and people don’t know that but the truth of the matter is that is the way that the character was given to me when we were back in the initial workshop stage, he has never ever, ever been in love, he has had people that he loves around him but he has never been in love. So Angel comes along and she is the most vibrant thing that anybody has ever seen and the humble guy gets the vibrant one. I am very, very happy about that story line, I thought it was really, really beautiful that you don’t see Collins before the story happens but he is a particular shy guy and this woman, boy, man, thing comes in and literally changes his life and suddenly he is running around jumping on the subway, dancing on tables like it literally changes his life.

Um. Aren't you guys about two weeks late? Chinese New Year's this year fell before the Super Bowl, even.

i was asking about that myself and was told that SF does the parade two weeks later so that families can celebrate the new year in their own family way. :)

also, permeta: woah, i would so be there. except i'll be working. and crying because i won't even be able to watch it on tv. well, okay, no crying, but still. :)

I can tell. You must come to Ghirardelli Square sometime - you might be able to absorb it right through your skin.

I think they're selling Lindt truffles in my cafeteria right now.
