Whoa. So SGA marathon w/[livejournal.com profile] lierdumoa and *whoa*. I think I need time to process that. SOCOOL. SGA vid is now officially next on the queue: Mraz's 'Too Much Food' to Rodney. ::SQUEES:: The song is brilliant and perfect and 'food' = Atlantean-tech-and-thus-sometimes-John and John is an Onion Ring and it really is "all about the word-play, all about the sound the tone of my voice". XD ::bounces::

Meanwhile...

So my inner 12 year old had a nice long chat with my inner-Sands and.

and.

well.

::covers eyes:: There's no excuse for this.

I'm really very sorry.

Lyrics: Loser

In the time of chimpanzees I was a monkey
Butane in my veins so I’m out to cut the junkie
With the plastic eyeballs,
spray-paint the vegetables
Dog food skulls with the beefcake pantyhose
Kill the headlights and put it in neutral
Stock car flamin’ with a loser in the cruise control
Baby’s in Reno with Vitamin D,
Got a couple of couches, a sleep on the love-seat!

Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?

Someone keeps sayin’ I’m insane to complain
About a shotgun wedding
and a stain on my shirt
Don’t believe everything that you breathe
You'd get a parking violation and a maggot on your sleeve
So shave your face with some mace in the dark
Savin’ all your food stamps and burnin’ down the trailer park!

Yo, cut it.

Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser baby, so why don’t you kill me?
(double barrel buck shot)

Soy un perdedor
I’m a loser babe, so why don’t you kill me?!

Notes: ...It's sorta...not even like I was vidding Sands, but vidding as if I were Sands. Like WWSJSD?-Method-Vidding. ...or maybe its just my giggling inner precocious twelve year old acting up. ::covers eyes::

In any case, it's a different narrative vidding style* (as opposed to visual vidding style, which I think didn't change much from my usual except for being cut on the fast side) than what I usually do, which possibly explains why it took so very long despite the vid's shortness. I'm not so sure that it completely worked, but I have some time until I attempt to vid Spaceballs (any comment/critique along these lines would be highly appreciated!!).

(* I'm using "narrative" to mean "storytelling method", and not as short for "linear narrative")

It really came home to me that increasing the brightness/contrast on the entire source just a weeeee bit really improves the overall look, 'cause it hides some of the grey that's inherent to the dvd. Potentially, playing with saturation might achieve the same effect; will try that more in the future.

Also, holy cow, but vidding without vidding angst is so weirdly anti-intuitive for me. It was all, "Be lighthearted damn you, LIGHT. HEARTED. SDGASHDWasdf!!" Will note to self for future reference. ::facepalm::

Fair enough. I can see that, in a way. :D

That is lovely. What is it with Johnny Depp and this song?

Unfortunately, we lost the notes (more specifically, I lost the notes. Grrrrr me!) and have to start over.

we will do this one of these days.

not even like I was vidding Sands, but vidding as if I were Sands.

*giggle* Everyone with a creative-type brain should get a Sheldon Jeffrey Sands warning before they see OUaTiM! He just doesn't go away, does he?

I can kind of see what you mean with the vid - it's fast and twisted and cracked in just a casual enough way to be like Sands!think :-)

Sands disappeared as a muse for a long time. *sniffles*

Jack Sparrow, on the other hand, NEVER leaves me. Ever.

I never got Sparrow-infected, not even a hint. Maybe he was too normal for me! XD

Sometimes instinct is all you've got to run on, especially when you're not tied to lyrics. I love the way you weaved the matador all through it.

And she was right - he belongs in there on both the visual and 'narrative' levels, linking all those other flashes together. Particularly that last clip right near the end - for some reason I can't articulate, he's just perfect.

8Kb? *snickers*

8mb, you mean? ;)

Going to watch! I haven't watched one of your vids since the Leeloo one you wanted my opinion on. *excited*

Hmm. I like it a lot, and I like how you put together some of the film shots, but it just doesn't seem that the song matches up enough. The song doesn't have enough beats and sharp moments to make the film go the way it did. You transition well, but yeah. The song. I know, Richard Cheese is totally Sands, but. *shrug* A cross between the Beck version and the Cheese version would be perfect.

I had to watch a couple times to catch everything. I really liked "shot gun wedding" and "double barrel buck shot," since they cut right to the chase. Those parts rocked.

I begged the maker to put my name on it, and she did! I think it's quite pretty. :] I've been missing Mr. Sparrow too, now that you brought up icons. ;D

*grin* I found myself giggling over the thought of the song, but it ended up working.

Loved the eye gouge and "double-barreled buck shot".

Loved it! The song choice was perfect for this movie, expecailly for Johnny Depp's character.

Top Moments:
1:21 - Loved the toe tapping set to the music
1:28 - (double barrel buck shot) In my opinion, the best part of the entire vid. I've wathed just that part so many times now...Love it so much!
The entire thing - In general, this entire video has a really good feel to it. Besides the two moments above, I equally love the entire vid.
