wow. So like I've found out that he released some new stuff, half of which I'm making faces at, but some really excellent stuff in there.
Items of note:
- Wow. He's making alotttt of commentary about the sadism that's coming up more and more in entertainment. (Dexter reference and all)
- Interesting to note the ways that he's...well. I don't quite know how to explain it, but it seems like he's making Victimhood look like an awful position to be in, instead of...sensationalized? sympathy-worthy? Like, there's been a trend of the Beautiful Tragic Victim, who looks lovely while hurt and that draws everyone's sympathy, and it's almost like he's saying, "Look how viciously ugly it is; look how completely utterly I spit on you if you let yourself be a victim." However, note that I'm not referring to actual victims, but rather to the...how shall I say...poser!emo-victims? The types that seem to unconciously seek drama out to have something to feel martyr'd over.
- Also iiiinteresting; Same Song and Dance and Crack the Bottle, among others. The...how much he, like, HATES the pop-star-girls. Like, I can almost see him looking at the shenanigans that Britney Spears, H. Montana, and misc. starlets are getting into and then looking at his daughter and going, "oh hellz no." Like, he took a great big sign, painted PREY onto it, and stuck it on that whole Hollywood Starlet *thing*.
- He's talking about over-medicated America again, heh.
- Beautiful: it's both tongue in cheek being a fake-powerballad (is that the genre?), and being...heartfelt. I make faces at it because...wut? Also, wow...it. It's like heartfelt being pulled from him with dentist's tongs, which makes it feel more real.
EDIT: omg, it's totally a ballad, I think that's Elton John.
EDIT2: lol, ok, I'm totally TOTALLY off it's apparently Queen + Paul Rodgers, I thought it was Elton because I'd read another article that said they were collaborating again
- Medicine Ball: HELLO EMINEM! I missed you!
- Underground: o.0 This, I know this style, it's...european orchestral arena rock. I can't remember the name of the band, oh god. *gigglefit*
EDIT: also, finally found proper lyrics to this. oh, my god. SUCH WORDPLAY. ::is in catnip::
- Bagpipes from Baghdad: *covers face* ah, Slim Shady, hello. The door is that way.
- Insane: o.o ...I...read an HP fic like this. Vaguely. One of those dark!Harry fics where he gets raped by Vernon. Don't quite know what to make of it still.
Edit: also, bravo on the whole transformation from Slim Shady in the beginning of the album to Marshal Mathers at the end, brilliant concept and execution
