Actually, I think Naruto's pretty adorable, but I don't care about him as a character -- so I don't care who he pairs off with. It has nothing to do with his aesthetics and everything to do with how he's the kind of unthinking loudmouth I'm easily annoyed with.

Uh, yes. That was my point. I was referring to personality aesthetic, not physical aesthetic.
That Naruto is not found sexually attractive by the majority of the fandom because of the kind of person he is. Therefore no one wants to read or write porn with him in it. Except me, for certain reasons I'm planning on outlining in a meta post I'm currently composing.

Yeah, we're definitely misunderstanding each other all over the place. You seem to think that Naruto's physical appearance has everything to do with the reason I don't like him/don't care about his sex life, and that's not true at all -- he can be sexually attrative, he probably *is* to people who don't dislike him, but that's just not me.

I think we're confusing ourselves over how we define attractiveness. You assumed I meant physical attractiveness, when I assumed you understood I was talking about his personality, not his appearance. The brain is, after all, the largest sex organ.

So when I said you didn't find him sexy, I meant *him* -- not his body or his face. I *do* find him sexy on the character level. The reasons why I like him have nothing to do with what he looks like.

Please hear me out. I understand that I've offended you, but I didn't mean to, and if I did, it was because I felt like you were being antagonistic to me. I reacted instead of thinking, and I apologise.

I know you don't hate Naruto. You said yourself you were indifferent to him. My original reply to permetaform saying "It's just Naruto gets no love because he's not conventionally sexy" was meant as a joke, and I didn't mean for it to be an insult.

Later, when I was replying to your comments, I was only trying to explain to you why I like him. I wasn't trying to accuse you of disliking him.

I never thought you were lying, however you seemed to think I was lying, and that made me feel defensive. If I lashed out, it was because I was feeling defensive. You seemed to think that if I saw Naruto as a sexual being, it had to be in spite of his personality, rather than because of it. The more I tried to explain to you I find his personality attractive, the less you seemed to believe me.

I don't think Naruto is annoying, as you said you did earlier. I love his unflagging enthusiasm. I love his frank honesty. I love his utter lack of guile. I love his intensity. I love his perceptiveness when it comes to other people's emotions and motivations. I do think he acts too childish in many ways, but that problem is easily solved if I age him 5 years when I write him. I'd age Sasuke five years before I wrote him too, because I just don't like to picture 12 year olds having sex.

Of course, you don't know me, so you don't know what my fandom background is. When I said "conventionally sexy," I really did mean personality-wise, because in the fandoms I've been in , the character everyone is attracted to tends to be the dark, brooding protagonist, like in Batman and Angel: The Series. Dark and brooding is what most fans tend to find sexy, regardless of the body these attributes may show up in.

Again, I don't think you were lying about anything you said, but I did feel like you were misinterpreting what I said. When I use terms like attractive and sexy in relation to cartoon characters, I'm never referring to their physical appearance because I think most of the guys in Naruto look pretty much alike. It's just my western bias towards the artform.

When I said "as long as you don't see it" -- I thought it was understood I was talking about fanfiction porn. I guess I should have been more explicit. I am a fanfiction writer, and the only porn that holds any interest for me is the written kind. When I said "as long as you don't have to see it" I meant "as long as you don't have to know about it," because in fanfiction, no one is seeing anything except in her mind's eye.

You said yourself that you weren't interested in reading Naruto porn. I was only repeating that sentiment in what I thought was a humorous manner. I apologize if I came across as overly sarcastic.

If you still think I'm being insincere, well, I guess there's nothing I can say to make you think otherwise, and I'm sorry to have wasted your time.

No, I see now, and I owe you an apology as well -- I thought you were trying to adopt a holier-than-thou air, like "*you* just don't like Naruto because he's not your idea of sexy, but *I* do and *I'm* going to make a post about all about the shallowness of people like you." I also just checked out your journal and I see it's your SasuNaru guide that (unintentionally) sparked this entire thing, so I'm sorry if my original comment seemed to be insulting your OTP. I don't have a problem with SasuNaru, I just like to joke around that Sasuke really belongs with Kakashi because god, it's hot.
