So like, I visited runefallstar and karotsamused this weekend and they pimped Dai-Guard at me, and like WHOA.

I mean, initially I got curious at it because it was described to me as the bastard child of Evangelion (and various other mecha Anime) and Office Space.

Office. Space. With Mecha.

Which is shitloads of awesome with really nice ensemble cast and some lovely subtext,

BUT DUDE, I'm getting into the later eps and HOlY FUCK. It's has office politics and red tape and international bruhaha and head-butting with the government and does interesting play with the whole Weapons of Mass Destruction concept. Also! It has an really interesting thing with the differences between Teamwork and Following Orders which is a really rare distinction to see, in like, y'know, a Mecha anime.

It...WHOA.

Unfortunately, the anime is apparently really fucking rare. But me and runefallstar and karotsamused think there might be a way to properly pimp this... ::schemes:: =D

I feel kind of... presumptuous... here, but do you think you could maybe share it with somebody who can torrent it, too? Or put it on any of the filesharing services, or emule, or... well, basically anywhere *but* YouTube? The trouble with streaming services is that they don't really work for people who like to watch things on long train journeys without internet access.

I'm normally completely allergic to anything mecha (though I did make it all the way through GunXSword), but this sounds really interesting. AND my local video store (scarecrow.com if anyone is in Seattle) has it on the rental shelf *g*. I'll check it out. Thanks

hee! my pleasure! I'll warn you tho, you might not get into it in the earlier episodes, I think I really got into it disk 2 or early disk 3.

And the thing is, the animation and the plot just gets better and better as it gets to the end, and it really ends well; it's gut-wrenching and happy all at once, and all the relationships are subtextual basically, so you can read it in whatever way you wish. =)
