"Let us resolve that she shall dream dreams deeper than the sea and higher than the clouds of heaven, that she shall come forth crowned and transfigured with her statesmen and wizards and saints and sages about her, with magic behind her and miracle before her."Notes: It's been awhile since I've let myself cut loose on the cutting, partially because I've been experimenting in style and effect and partially 'cause I was testing my threshold of pain/irritation with not molesting every beat. This vid felt like a sigh of relief after all that, what with the massive beat-whoring, finally getting the RAM able to handle the type of vid I've been wanting to make, and finding SGA. Which, just...::waves vaguely at old meta posts:: yeah.
-Vachel Lindsay
Oh, and there's like huge numbers of things I tried to say about Elizabeth and Atlantis in the vid, all mixed up together, so there are a very many equally valid interpretations of the vid. Hell, I'm not even sure of all the things I put in there, but I'm very curious as to what themes or stories or impressions that those watching the vid might get, so don't be afraid to tell me what you think!
(I would recommend using VLC Player to play the vid, it's free, or you can look at this guide. Also, apparently there's a compatibility problem with playing the vid in Quicktime.)
Notes part 2: The wierd and uncomfortable feeling that occurs before the music starts? That's on purpose; it was my goal that Atlantis is creepy and uncomfortable and wrong...until the expedition came, woke it up, and let it breathe.
Notes part 3: Wow!
::bounces and glomps everyone::
Thanks to everyone who'd nominated and voted for me at the Stargate Fan Awards, it won for Weir's catagory!

I'm glad you liked the story! Narrative is always a struggle for me and especially without lyrics this time, so I'm glad it worked for you!
And ::wry grin:: heh, whenever I hear someone say that I always want to do vid recs. (go check out

I adore instrumentals so you had me in your corner from the start but yes, the narrative was wonderful!
go check out astolat's work, she's *awesome*
Ooh, thanks! I'll definitely have to go check hers out soon.
Also, thank you for introducing me to that music piece. I love celtic music so eeeeeeee!

::nodnodnod:: I think everyone's aware of it on some level, only they're not aware that they're aware, y'know? For most people who've not been musically trained I think it's mostly subliminial, but it's never that it does register, it just registers on a level that's more "gut feeling" rather than anything expressable. I find I get that about most things literary; I can express that it *works* and how it makes me feel, but damned if I can figure out *why*.

::grins:: oh man, I've gotten more compliments on the music in this vid more than any other. To think I was worried about the pipes being annoying. XD

That makes perfect sense! It is still very much gut-centred even if you have been musically-trained, you can just identify why easier.

Oh god, me too. It's terrible when I try and recommend it to friends because all I can think to say is that it's good and great and... and... read!!
Speaking of friends, I made one of mine watch it yesterday, and then we made her brother. She loved it - how you clipped it, how it flowed, just the entire thing. And her brother (who's fifteen, so you can probably get a glimmer of his personality) responded with 'Cool!'.
When I also asked him if it had converted him (he's seen an ep and though it was pretty good), he replied "I think it may have." So extra well done on the conversion factor. :P

Ohhh! Good point! And the more musically-trained would be more used to talking about (and using the vocabulary for) stuff that registers as gut-feeling that comes from music!
And wow, I'm glad that it worked for your friend and it staggers me that her brother liked it too, enough for him to be interested in watching the show. Wow! Thank you for letting me know!
