You can download the episodes (all of it) from SpA... http://www.spectreanime.com/ They have it all, you just have to search for the earlier episodes through their IRC.

Oh there are a lot of slashy moments, as you go deeper into the TV series' plot <3 Is ep 15 & 16 with Chin Isou? If not, you have to watch that section, that's so slasy with Hakkai... <3

*chortles* The opening sequence where they're in chains was already slashy, I swooned X3 If they even tried to change it, they'd screw it up pretty good.

Is that the .ogg ones? There should be a JP language track and subs.
If so open them with VideoLan (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) and go to Audio > Audio Track > Track 2 and Video > Subtitles Track > Track 1

I think you can switch the language track in Windows Media Player but the subs won't show up. At least they wouldn't for me.

I pwnz0rz! XD And to think I just figured it out six hours ago by accident.
I knew there was a reason for my crazy leik woah urge last nite to watch the Saiyuki eps I downloaded MONTHS ago and never watched because they upon initial inspection were only ENG language even though they said it was dual.
Go me and my 'I will open these with every program I can think of until they come up in JAPANESE GODDAMNIT!'.
Clearly I rock.

Y'know, the only dub I've ever found to be unwatchably painful was Gravitation. I have to wonder if slashy series are some kind of Mark of Doom for decent voice actors over here. Either they get no dub at all, or it's ungodly awful (and I'm not normally anti-dub).

Though Yami no Matsuei wasn't that bad, despite what everyone says.

Now I HAVE to get this series and hear the awfulness of that.

Is the Gravi dub really that bad? What exactly did they do about K's ...K-ness?
Anything remotely shounen ai gets pissed on by US dubbers.
I found FAKE to be a horribly offensive dub. The voices...ACK.
I watched about thirty seconds of it in english before going 'Fuck this shit' and switching it to japanese.
Then I watched that for about a minute before realizing Dee's seiyuu was the same as Shuichi's. Which made me laugh really REALLY hard for reasons I still don't fully grasp.

Everybody sounds like a random dude they pulled off the street; it's very stiff. Okay, Yuki has some good moments and Shuichi is only meh-medium (and not TOO femmy, which is nice), but the backup people, Hiro in particular, are pain. K sounds the same as everyone else, but that's the sort of thing it's hard to preserve (they do explain some of the original lines referencing his accent in the DVD extras, which is good).

I still haven't seen the FAKE anime, which...I...should do. Will bump it up the Netflix queue.

well, it's not unwatchably painful and it get's better as the voice actors get settled in, but Sanzo's supposed to have this really deep voice, cultured, and Hakkai is supposed to have this smooth clear voice, and Goyjo's supposed to drawl a bit and they all just sound like whiny teenage boys.

I don't *care* if some guys who are 22 actually sound like that, THESE characters *don't*, and it's like as if Rickman played Snape with blond hair...it's *grating*.

and the problem isn't even as if they sounded all alike, but they all sound like teenage BOYS. I'm perfectly fine with Goku's voice actor but the other three's are just ::flails:: it's like...like Knives suddenly sounding like one of those emo guys. or something. It just shouldn't be *done*. It's like Snape wearing a tutu, it's like, god, as if they cut out Goku's "sun" line, which THANK GOD THEY DIDN'T.

And thank god Hakkai and Goyjo appeared to have sidestepped the anti-subtext bleaching 'cause they're just. too. obvious.

And Yaone was good, and Ni was excellent, and I actually thought Doku's voice fit a little bit better than with the Japanese voice actor...::cries:: but the leads? are SO BAD.

I know! the kindest you might call it is 'surfer chic' which also makes me cringe. Hakkai doesn't NEED to cuss 'cause he strings together words that are *far* more cutting than any cuss words. I mean, some of the stuff that comes out of his mouth during Reload I'm just like "BURN!"

I think the problem with dubs is that they don't seem to even bother trying to understand the characters...they just read it by line. and you CAN'T do that for Saiyuki!

heh, and what's strange? I like Yaone and Kou and Doku's american voice actors. Lirin is also pretty good. Nii is SPOT ON, the creepy bunny voice is *perfect*.
