fuckity. I knew this would happen.
Upside: friend's b-day party went well. Mostly. She was depressed that half the night went well and some of the plans went pear-ended the latter half. Over which she became a little black raincloud despite the fact that people had fun.
Downside: came back at 6am. Was dead to the world until 2pm. Puttered around apt cleaning up whirlwind that was yesterday and it occurred to self to go to cafe to check internet at around 4:45pm.
vividcon's already sold out.
...
Yeah, I kinda had a feeling this would happen when I heard tickets were going to be up on Saturday.
[edit] I am on aim right now. DISTRACT ME FROM REGISTERING ON WAITLIST AGAIN. (have already done so twice)

My best advice is just to plan like you are going. Block off the time, shop for plane tickets, find roommates, etc.
There were a lot of people who dropped out last year. People sign up with the hope they can go, and there are lots of not-so-awful life reasons that cause people to skip. There will be movement on the wait list, and the later it happens the more likely it is that other people on the waitlist won't be able to go because they have given up hope.
Don't give up hope. Stay positive and plan like you are going and you *will* go. I can think of at least four people who attended in 2005 who got in off the waitlist, and I wasn't even paying particular attention to that.
